Business as usual

I’m back, and it’s business as usual readers!

I had an awesome, and at times exhausting, time in NYC. I ate a lot of great food (practically fell in love with some sausage), saw a lot of awesome sights, and of course, a lot of art. You guys should expect a photo album on the Facebook page soon. Unfortunately, there were a lot of exhibits that prohibited photography, and though tempted, I remained respectful. We just got in yesterday evening, so we haven’t even looked at all the photos. I promise to exclude all the touristy and love-dovey images (it was my wedding anniversary, after all.) I’m pretty excited to show them off. You can see a sampling on the Instagram!

Besides all that, I mostly wanted to check and in and remind you of what to expect in the coming months. Next week, my guest will be experimental musician and show promoter, Cher Von Koeune. I’ll tell you more about her next week. In the weeks to come expect more creatives, some working in mediums you may not even be aware of….sculptors, sound collage makers, and video makers of a special sort.

By the way, June 20th will be the Blind Date Anniversary party…!! Blind Date will hit its year long mark in June, and the Rudyard Kipling is graciously hosting the show. It will feature poetry reading by the likes of Erin Keane as well as music by Ben Traughber & Cher Von…much more to be announced….I’ll keep you in the loop.

Speaking of events, there are TWO art related block parties happening on record store day, which happens to be this Saturday. Jim Marlowe over at Astro Black (with a little help from some of his friends) is hosting a block party on Oak Street. Check it here.

The other is presented by Underground Sounds and the collective Saving Our Style. It’s on Highland Ave starting around noon. Performances start at 2pm.

So much great music to be heard at both.

Cheers!
