Hello listeners. I’m sure you’re all prepping for the holidays these next coming weeks. As you’re traveling all over to see family and friends, why not bring a little Blind Date to keep you company? Podcast is available in the iTunes store (for free!!).

Today I bring you a small sample of the Baltimore Maryland art scene. A couple of weeks ago I interviewed Samuel T. Herring, vocalist and primary songwriter for the three piece Future Islands. Future Islands’ output is made up of highly narrative synth driven music accompanied by Sam’s very commanding, and at times soulful, vocals. Before Future Islands Sam dabbled in visual arts, writing, and with his first band Art Lord and the Self Portraits.

In our discussion, Sam talks about writers he admires, the past couple of Future Islands albums, what’s next, and a solo hip hop mixtape he’s been working on. If you’re at all interested, it would behoove you to give it a listen. Above is a video of Sam & crew performing ‘ In The Fall’.

For more info, visit the Future Islands webpage here.

Cheers.

It’s that time of the year again

Happy Holidays listeners. We seem to be getting into those colder months again; it takes me by surprise every year. Speaking of which, I have some special things lined for you this holiday season. This Wednesday I’m giving you guys a glimpse into the Baltimore art scene. Baltimore is bustling with creative folks such as Future Islands, Dan Deacon, the rest of the Wham City crew, and of course most famously, cult film director John Waters. Earlier this week, I spoke to Samuel Herring of Future Islands over Skype; and he was incredibly generous with all the inner workings of his creativity. I can’t wait for you guys to hear it. Above is a video of the Future Islands track ‘Tin Man’.

Over the course of the week, I also spoke to some of Louisville’s up and coming musical talents; Mark Kramer of Tender Mercy, and the duo known as Twin Limb. So much great music happening all over the place. I have a lot on my plate as far as editing is concerned, so I’m going to leave you guys for now.

Till Wednesday…
